Our History

Founded in 1975 as Women’s and Children’s Hospital, Odessa Regional Medical Center (ORMC) in Odessa, Texas has built its reputation as the top childbirth facility in the area. Our NICU was the first unit of its kind in the Permian Basin, and since that time, we have added state-of-the-art equipment to provide the highest level of NICU care available in the area. We provide highly trained nurses and respiratory therapists around the clock to support our board-certified neonatologists in meeting the special needs of your sweet baby.

Our Level III designated, 49-bed NICU is equipped with the most advanced equipment and a specialized team of doctors and nurses who provide the best care to your baby at a critical time in his or her development.

There’s a reason that ORMC delivers more babies than any other health care facility in the Permian Basin. It’s because we view each new life as a miracle to celebrate, and our experienced team of doctors, nurses and other professionals are dedicated to helping your baby get the best possible start.

The Importance of A NICU

It is Important to Deliver Where You Have Access to the NICU. The labor and delivery team at Odessa Regional Medical Center prides themselves on their ability to handle every aspect of pregnancy care from childbirth preparation, breastfeeding and parenting classes to their ability to handle the most complicated deliveries supported by state-of-the-art technology and medical specialists.

For the birth of your baby, we’ve prepared private, spacious, labor, delivery and recovery (LDR) suites. With an adjustable bed and reclining sleeper for your coach, our suites are designed to increase your comfort during labor. Each suite is also fully equipped to help ensure a safe delivery and outstanding medical care for the first hours of your baby’s life.

If you require a Cesarean section (c-section), we also have surgical suites dedicated to women’s services, so you will be able to deliver your baby in an operating room located right in our maternity unit.

ORMC is a Five-Star Women’s Care Recipient for Vaginal Delivery and C-Section Delivery from Healthgrades, the leading online resource for comprehensive information about physicians and hospitals. This designation indicates that the hospital’s clinical outcomes are statistically significantly better than expected when treating the condition or performing the procedure being evaluated.
