What is Maternal Fetal Medicine?
Our Maternal Fetal Medicine physicians are Board Certified Obstetrician/Gynecologists and Maternal-Fetal Medicine
Specialists with over 60 years of combined experience in all aspects of high-risk pregnancy management and consultative services. Their experience, expertise and qualified staff combine to provide the necessary care for you and your baby during this very special time. Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists are obstetrician/ gynecologists who have received two to three years of additional education and practical experience to gain special competence in various obstetrical, medical and surgical complications of pregnancy. Our Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists have the expertise required to provide care to both mother and fetus in complicated pregnancies. With knowledge of diagnostic and treatment options for complicated pregnancies, the Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists can evaluate your baby’s health before birth to detect abnormalities. Maternal-Fetal Medicine Specialists are complementary to obstetricians in providing consultations and co-management of patients with complications both before and during pregnancy.
The Regional Perinatal Center is equipped with
state-of-the-art ultrasound systems. Ultrasonography is the visualization of deep structures of the body by recording the reflections or echoes of pulses of ultrasonic waves directed into the tissues. These reflections produce an image which assists the physician in determining gestational age, assessing fetal anatomy and evaluating structures which surround the fetus.
If you or your baby require immediate attention, our physicians can arrange for you to be transferred. You and your baby will receive the highest quality of care that you both deserve.
